To Diversify or Not

I just completed a film review for a class and it has me wanting to diversify my body of work, as opposed to focusing on just comedy and technical tutorials. Please read that review below and let me know your thought on diversification in this regard. Thanks.

Here is the panorama photo I shot that causes this diversification dilemma:

Behind the Scenes of Set-Top

So, I finished shooting the spoof infomercial, Set-Top Bananas. It was fun because the actors, including myself really enjoyed their lines. The hardest part was to be serious and not laugh at what we were saying. Also, one of the actors was having a bad day and I could see their day get better after being a part of something so funny; they couldn’t help but smile after a good laugh.

Next up- editing. I am currently using Final Cut Pro but would like to also learn Premiere soon. I just found out yesterday how easy it is to change the play speed of a section in Final Cut and I’m looking forward to using that feature- specifically where I pickup the bananas off the cable box to show the audience their “quality”. I want to slow that footage down for dramatic effect. You should be able to view the final production on this website at the end of next week. In the meantime here is some behind the scenes footage captured by one of my actors.

Set-Top Bananas

Testimonial Dramatization Scene

LOG LINE:

This is a short dialogue of someone losing their mind as an example to show why it’s important to buy “Set-Top Bananas” in order to protect from having your mind controlled by the cable box or internet router. This is a small scene within a larger production- a spoof infomercial called Set-Top Bananas. The entire video production will be available to view soon in the VIDEOS tab of this site’s menu.

SCENE 1

Dad and Daughter are sitting at the kitchen table. Daughter looks concerned and Dad looks exasperated.

Dad

I thought I told you to stay away from my motorcycle.

Daughter

Dad, I have no idea what you are talking about. Why would I go near your motorcycle?

Dad

To sabotage it. I heard you talking to your Mom.

Daughter

You are an idiot Dad.

Dad

Your Mom doesn’t want me to have any fun and I know she is spying on me. YOU ARE HELPING HER.

Daughter

Mom is married to Andy now, Dad, and doesn’t give a shit about what you do. You should see a psych doctor. Nobody cares about your stupid Motorcycle.

Dad

I knew it. You think it’s stupid and want to sabotage it. I have proof. This is you right here in this picture I took yesterday. I couldn’t believe my eyes! But, that is for sure you.

Dad shows his phone to her.

CAMERA ZOOMS IN ON THE PHONE.

It shows picture of a stick figure drawn next to his motorcycle.
